Changes and cancellation policy

changes ON THE PART OF FAMILIES

Here you can find our policies to modify or cancel your orders, as well as the exceptional cases in which School of Wonder may modify or cancel a program.

Please review the information below before registering for one of our programs. Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to email us!

Change in plans? No worries!

We understand the NYC family logistics are extra complicated. That’s why we have a flexible policy of changes. Please email our Camp Director alli@theschoolofwonder.com to request any change.

If you determine that your child is no longer able to attend the camp for which they were originally registered, you may transfer to another camp that is open for registration on our website by e-mailing hola@theschoolofwonder.com. For day camps, transfers can be made for free up to 2 weeks before the date of the original camp, or for a 20% transfer fee up to 24 hours before the date of the original camp. For week long camps, transfers can be made for free up to 30 days before the first date of the original camp, or for a 20% transfer fee up to 7 days before the first date of the original camp.

Should a conflict arise that necessitates a second transfer, additional fees will incur, as outlined in the table below:

We also understand that occasionally, mistakes happen at the time of the registration (e.g., duplicate orders). If this applies to you, please e-mail alli@theschoolofwonder.com within 24 hours of registering so that we can refund your purchase. A 5% refund fee will be applied to cover the cancellation expenses.

CANCELLATION ON THE PART OF FAMILIES

Please note that all registration sales are final.

At this time, we are unable to offer refunds or vouchers for cancellations made on the part of families.

At this time, we are unable to offer refunds or vouchers for cancellations made on the part of families for any reason. This includes campers arriving late, leaving early, dismissed from camp, or unable to attend all or part of a session. However, we understand that plans change and unexpected conflicts may arise. Due to the nature of the program, after school dates cannot be transferred or made up in any scenario, but changing dates is possible for day and week-long camps under the conditions described above.

CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS ON THE PART OF THE SCHOOL OF WONDER

The School of Wonder reserves the right to cancel any camp that does not meet enrollment requirements or for other business related reasons. We will try to accommodate your child in another day camp or will fully refund the registration fee.

Here you can find our terms due to severe inclement weather or force majeure:

We are an all-weather program and as such, plan to run our program in most conditions - rain, shine, snow, or cold! That said, the safety of our students is our number one priority, so it is important for us to follow precautions when official weather advisories are put in place (e.g., severe cold under 20°F degrees, heat over 100°F, wind advisories, thunderstorms, and other similar events). For this reason, the School of Wonder reserves the right to cancel or modify our programs due to extreme circumstances as outlined in our Inclement Weather Plan.

If the program must be modified or cancelled, we will send an alert via WhatsApp, e-mail, or phone no later than 6am on the day of the class.

MODIFICATION TO DAY CAMPS

In the case of severe weather or other exceptional circumstances, The School of Wonder reserves the right to modify:

  • LOCATION AND/OR MEETING POINT: We may choose to meet closer to public indoor spaces that can provide refuge such as Grand Army Plaza (Brooklyn Library and Brooklyn Museum) or Brooklyn Botanic Garden (Flatbush Ave entrance or Eastern Parkway entrance).

  • HOURS: We may choose to reduce the camp hours to what is feasible for a safe and satisfying experience aligned with the exceptional circumstances.

  • ADVENTURE CONTENT: We may choose to adjust the theme and activities planned for the camp.

  • CAMP LEADERS: We may choose to change the facilitators planned to run the day camp.

In the scenario that the program hours are reduced, families may choose to accept the modified schedule and attend the camp, in which case they will receive a voucher valid for 6 months for the prorated value of the hours that weren’t covered and a full refund for the extended day add-on if applicable.

In the case that the modified terms no longer fit the needs of the participant, families may either transfer to a make-up session scheduled by The School of Wonder (i.e. the next day camp scheduled on our website) or choose to receive a voucher valid for 6 months for the prorated value of the hours that weren’t covered by the modified camp and a full refund for the extended day add-on if applicable. If the make-up date is not suitable for the customer and/or they do not wish to receive a voucher, they may also transfer the date according to the guidelines described above.

CANCELLATION OF DAY CAMPS

In the case that we must cancel a day camp or home school session, all children scheduled to attend that day will receive the option of a make-up session. For day camps, this will usually be the next day camp scheduled on our website. If the make-up date is not suitable for the customer, they can transfer the date according to the guidelines described above.

CANCELLATION AND MODIFICATION OF AFTER SCHOOL SESSIONS

At this moment we are unable to offer make-up sessions for our after school program. As defined in our Inclement Weather Plan, we adjust our programming based on the needs of the weather conditions and will only cancel in the case of severe inclement weather when New York City Public Schools are also likely to be out of session.

Thank you very much for your understanding!
