we’ve been creating and embarking on Wonder Adventures since 2017

The School of Wonder has created numerous immersive adventures - each one inviting children on imaginative and real journeys in which they become the protagonists of a tale full of creative missions and fantastic characters.

IN THE SEARCH OF THE LOST CASTAWAYS (2021)

A strange bottle with a letter from 2 lost castaways has arrived to Segovia’s river shores… it is dated from 1999! 21 years later, a group of brave kids take their boats and sail the seas in search of the castaways. Following some flashy stars in the sky they find their way towards the lost island. Will the island be a safe place? Will Elsa and Nico be still alive? An unexpected sequence of the events will make them prisoners on this island alongside their new friends - the grown-up castaways. Only by finding the gold ring swallowed by a fish, crossing the quicksand with the magic holes, and encountering one emerald each will they get closer to finding the magical hole to return back home.

THE FORGOTTEN KINGDOM (2020)

This Adventure happened in El Retiro Park in Madrid. Our Wonder Magician invited kids into a fantasy journey around the park, “in a quest for the Great Lion, the only creature that can help the world remove the spell that’s been cast.” Similar to a treasure hunt, there were funny, creative and ingenious clues and challenges that brought us towards the Palace of the Great Lion.

FEARSOME PIRATES IN REDHOOK (2020)

Wonder Kids discover a mysterious red boat… a real one!  Do they explore it? Do they dare to enter and be ready to fight against its fearsome pirates? Perhaps they can come to an agreement and become part of their crew, but they’ll need to show their pirate skills and overcome the 5 pirate challenges as a team. Fascinating surprises and more adventures await!

QUEST FOR THE MAGIC POTION (2019)

The Quest took place at Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn.

After getting to know one another, our group encountered a mysterious magician who invited us on a journey throughout the park to find the missing ingredient to his secret potion.

Along the way, we solved puzzles and riddles, sought help from the local animals, crossed invisible rivers, hunted for ancient trees and found pieces of a secret map that led us to the last ingredient. In the end, we finalized the potion and enjoyed the magic of our new superpower: making enormous bubbles that won’t pop!

THE HALL OF WONDER (2019)

In this adventure, over 120 kids raced along different paths to converge on The Hall of Wonder—the old Paramount Theater Hall reimagined by the School of Wonder’s creative team— where transformative costume making and other creative stations awaited them. Then, they had a dance party to leave the kids with a heightened experience of self-expression.

This was our first indoor experience, designed with our Brooklyn-based collective of artists, including the visual projections of Oliver Allaux, an interactive colorful environment by Hannoux, Michelle Joni’s playground of Wonder, group singing facilitation by Luke Namer, and performance art by Wonder Giada.

CHAMPIONS OF WONDER (2019)

During a 6-week Wonder Adventure, over 120 campers at LIU Brooklyn went on a collective quest to restore wonder to humanity and become Champions of Wonder. Each week, our series of games and activities, ranging from “Chalk Giants” to “Building Your Temple”, offered kids a fun occasion to build their confidence and explore new facets of creativity.

GUARDIANS OF THE FOREST (2018)

On our way to the river, we find a terrible inconvenience: the road is closed and danger signs alert us of the risks we take if we dare to cross.... Apparently, only the wild creatures are allowed to cross the portal. A suitcase, three locks and a diary give us some clue of what’s next. We divide into teams and find the Guardians of the Forest. Only from them can we learn the skills to become wild creatures.

This adventure was made possible thanks to the artists from Fresh Air Collective and the support of Present Present Festival

A VISIT FROM THE FUTURE (2018)

In this adventure, a Human from the Future is coming to visit the Wonder Kids, but the journey is challenging. His assistant Gelaton has lost the Talisman, and there are rumors that the Sorceress of the Past has been seen around the neighborhood with a briefcase full of locks. Children will need to follow several clues hidden in the neighborhood to be able to welcome the Human from the Future.

BUILDING A PYRAMID (2017)

With some bamboo sticks and other raw materials, children have full agency to decide how to set up the installation-home. After building it, we decorate and celebrate with a cacao ceremony and live music to bring warmth and love to our new home.

Co-created with Future Clear Productions and first played in Nov. 2017, with the kids of Portfolio School, in Tribeca, NY.

BUBBLE WIZARDS (2017)

In this adventure-lesson, children held the magic of science in their own hands. Bringing the intuitive scientist within them and adding some mental ingredients such as patience and concentration, children learned to create giant soap bubbles and catch, manipulate, divide and multiply them without popping them.

This adventure was first played in our favorite school in Tribeca, NY, Portfolio School.

SPYING ON HUMANITY(2017)

This adventure-lesson presented an opportunity to make observations about human interactions, feelings and discoveries in a park setting under the umbrella of a fun adventure being spies on the humans.

Kids take time to contemplate, take notes of their observations, and discuss them with their team afterwards in the detective room. This adventure sparked empathy and kids’ philosophy.

Created in collaboration with Sami Sutcliffe from Future Clear and Portfolio School.
