A 21ST CENTURY SKILLS LEARNING FRAMEWORK

The children of today can lead the regeneration of the planet and the reconnection to humanity by growing up as community-oriented, creative, autonomous, and committed stewards of the earth. Our educational adventures are designed to foster these important skills for the 21st Century.

Children learn social-emotional skills by navigating new challenges and situations. The design of all of our work is based on the Wonder Compass — a learning framework composed of four main areas of knowledge:

COMMUNITY: the compassionate self

This area of knowledge develops consciousness and emotional intelligence as we learn to:

  • Connect to ourselves and others.

  • Develop compassion and embody empathy.

  • Develop as observers - learning to listen, observe and communicate with respect, authenticity and compassion.

  • Gain self-awareness and sensibility to the people around us.

  • Learn to be good friend and great team players.

CREATIVITY: The creative self

This area of knowledge develops creative thinking and fosters possibilities for creative expression as we learn to:

  • Express ourselves fully and authentically by exploring diverse outlets of creativity that can help us expand the possibilities to express ourselves. We do this through the arts - dance, music, painting, theater, and all forms of improvisational play.

  • Release our creative selves, become lifelong learners, and become creators and thoughtful consumers.

  • Learn human-centered design and visual thinking. Build - test- iterate and improve.

AUTONOMY: the determined self

This area of knowledge develops the inner strength to realize our vision and build our own, independent paths in life as we learn to:

  • Gain clarity and focus about our mission and goals and take steps to accomplish them.

  • Develop self-knowledge and self-confidence so we can choose our own destinies.

  • Become mission-driven, self-directed and free beings.

  • Be authentic and passionate about all we do.

  • Set high quality standards and learn to follow-through.

  • Build the courage, strength and leadership skills to pursue our own paths.

EARTH STEWARDSHIP: The committed self - Gain knowledge of this world we all share and be at service of it.

This area of knowledge develops an understanding of the world we all share and how to be of best service it and its people as we:

  • Develop environmental awareness and commitment.

  • Take responsibility and hold ourselves accountable to fighting injustice.

  • Develop social awareness and commitment.

  • Become a global citizen and be at the service of the Earth.

  • Gain knowledge and perspective of where we live, study history, and investigate past knowledge,

  • Gain respect and love for diversity. Develop solidarity.

  • Learn other languages. Learn about other cultures and civilizations.

tying it all together

Perhaps in the center of these four areas of knowledge lies the most important life lesson: love yourself and others. These four dimensions are the ingredients to build self-esteem from a solid foundation. We emphasize fostering healthy routines, healthy relationships, high standards in all we do, full commitment to the truth and authenticity, full awareness of the reality in which we live.

Nurturing these four dimensions builds the invisible toolbox of skills, habits, tools and techniques that children need to become the highest version of themselves.
