A Day in the Life of a Wonder Kid

There’s no typical day at School of Wonder, but ….

Imagine you are Wonder Kid. Your mom drops you off at 9am, and you find a cozy spot on the “living room” (picnic blanket) to keep your snacks and backpack. Chill music is playing in the background, and you decide to start the day with watercolors. You paint what you see — some kids are climbing trees, others playing Elemental Tag , others building a fort.

In the opening circle, you learn that when you’re going on adventure together, Wonder Kids stick together. They care for each other, for Gaia, and for themselves. “Who is this Gaia?” You wonder. “She’s the Earth — all the living beings around us.” another kid explains, “We get messages from her in a special mailbox.”

Before you know it, you’re headed to the forest. There you find the mailbox - a beautiful roll with a crystal hanging down. Inside is a tiny scroll tied with rainbow string. A kid takes it out and does a big wolf howl, all the other kids come running.

You read the message together, “Wonder Kids, are you ready to uncover my secrets? Scattered in the forest are 10 puzzle pieces. Put them together to discover your next clue. Good luck! Gaia”

You race into the forest and when the pieces come together, they have questions that you’ve never thought of before — What would you bring with you in your suitcase to the future?

A Wonder Leader makes this question into a song and you spend a moment dancing before she says, “Venga! Vamos”. Quickly, you learn that that means it’s time to go, so you grab your backpack, find a good walking stick and head on your way.

The next mission tells you to head to the Village of the Peaceful Warriors. Where in the world is that?! Luckily, somebody has a map. It shows the whole park, and this time, the leaders follow YOU. For a moment, you get a little lost, but it’s okay. That’s all part of the journey.

When you arrive to your location, you’re so hungry! Thank goodness it’s time for lunch. You decide to eat next to your new friends Freddy and Jerome. They have the funniest jokes and scariest stories. One time Freddy ate a cricket!! During lunch, you have some time to free play, and you decide to make a worm amusement park.

Then, suddenly, you hear another wolf howl and run over to see what the hubbub is all about. Another mission from Gaia of course. These things show up the whole week - asking you to build a human bridge from sticks, to interview to people in the park, to host a Wild Festival! It’s all so fun!

Finally, a letter from Gaia invites you to go home, and you make the long journey, satisfied to arrive back in the Wonder Grove and share all the memories you made that day. “Wow!” You think, “I can’t believe we did all that! I can’t wait for tomorrow.” And you run back to your mom to tell her all the stories you played.
