wonder family camp 2026

Family Camp at Hidden Lake

August 5–9, 2026 · Upstate New York

A five-day, four-night experience to slow down, connect, and step into wonder—together.

WHAT is wonder family camp?

After a wonderful first experience last year (see photos!), we are going back to Hidden Lake, a beautiful lakeside camping experience in upstate New York, from August 5th to 9th, 2026.

Our vision is to bring kids, families, teachers, and great artists to play, hang out, be creative together, and embrace the wonder of nature and community.

We are beyond excited to invite you to join us for this unique and intimate holiday experience.

THE SPIRIT OF THE EXPERIENCE

Wonder Family Camp exists for all of us to get together and grow as a community. We envision a camp experience full of wonder, adventure, arts, music, active collaboration and humor.

The intention for this year is that it feels like vacation for all, also for the Wonder Team, so programming will be light.

This camp is about community, not profit. Pricing is based on real costs with 0% profit margin.

Some key details:

  • Warm meals are included and will be prepared by an amazing professional chef, Steven Shikhel.

  • We will be camping in screened, wooden lean-to structures.

  • There is no internet, and very limited phone network

We have capacity for 10 families only.

WHAT WILL WE DO?

Aside from simply enjoying the beauty of the natural landscape, there are many activities for you and your family to take part in at Hidden Lake including:

  • Swimming

  • Kayaking

  • Arts & crafts

  • Music & informal jam sessions

  • Small hikes

  • Play fields and games for kids

  • Mingling with like-minded parents and local artists

Note that this is a holiday camp, not a drop-off camp.

  • Parents are responsible for their children at all times

  • Supervision from the Wonder Team will happen at dedicated times, but otherwise, activities are designed for families to participate in together.

A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY for families to join us in THE WONDER!

ACCOMMODATIONS

This year we plan to on the north side of the lake, in Pine Top and Nature Villages. These beautiful camps have multiple lean-to cabins, a shelter structure with outdoor water sinks, and latrines.

  • Lean-to cabins are wooden cabins with no sealed windows (mosquito screens only) - they fit up to 4 people and include cots with mattresses. (Price is $160 for the whole time).

  • OR you can bring your own tent and camp in the village as well (Free)

Parents and kids will share a sleeping space. Wi-fi and phone signal access is very limited on-site.

What families say:

“The experience really made us feel renovated; being in the nature without our phones, enjoying every moment without rushing. It was great to break out of the daily routine and meet new likeminded people”

- Cristina (2025)

“I have been describing it as a Wes Anderson film, with all the charm, beauty, and lovely (but odd) characters. ;-)”

-Anna (2025)

“I am still trying to find a good way to describe it, but it was definitely more than just a camp. It was an opportunity to connect with my family, my child, myself and others (whom by the way I knew nothing or so little about before going) in a meaningful way. We shared something so beautiful together, and I'd always remember how precious it was.”

- Yukako (2025)
